In football, one of the most prolific positions is the running back position. They carry the ball, weave in and out, juke people, break long runs, and score… making the crowd go wild and you jump out of your seat! But the truth is… every run is not a long and glorious touchdown. Some runs are one-yard, some go for negative yards, most are met with hard hits and awkward tackles. The long runs are amazing, but it’s those tough yards that will measure the value of a great back… and all great running backs have an uncanny ability to FALL FORWARD. After every hit… they fall lunging forward for those extra yards, inches, or first down. You are the running back in your own life, carrying the ball to your definition of success, and must learn to FALL FORWARD!
You have been handed the ball weather as a professional, parent, partner, etc… you have the ball of your own life and no yards can be gained standing still or standing on the sideline. The plan of reaching the end zone never changes, but your path to get their certainly does. At times, you will achieve your goals quickly without anyone being able to tackle you. At times, you will achieve your goals with some fancy footwork. And other times… you will feel the full wrath of the opposition. These are the times you must do your best, be your best, fight for YOU, and fall forward!
Falling Forward may not always result in the “Win” you have in your mind. Sometimes, when you are struggling at work, in your relationship, etc… Falling Forward means you have powered through, come to new understandings, EVOLVED, and gotten to a better place. However, it could also mean, you have fallen forward out of a negative environment, workplace, or relationships… and EVOLVED into a healthier one. In both instances, the key word is EVOLVED. Your evolution is a choice! Go through the great, good, and bad in your life with your eyes wide open… understand the situation, your role, their role, and what it will take to fall forward or sprint for the end zone. Make sure you don’t bring the same old you to a new situation and expect things to be different. Share your thoughts at www.facebook.com/menevolvingnow/ Happy EVOLVING!!!
