Vision is an awesome thing; vision for your life, your future, professionally, personally, and relationally. Although vision is important and allows you a destination and helps to form paths to success… many struggle to begin their journey. Why?
I recently spoke with a woman who shared her dissatisfaction with her lifestyle and current occupation. She shared her frustration and I asked her to specify her dream… the woman lit up as she discussed a passion to design furniture and decorate. I asked… “Why not?”, “Why can’t you do your dream?”. She responded, “Money and all of the other things she would need to start a business”.
The thing to remember is… the business is the vision… designing is the passion… There is no shame is starting on the ground floor! Simply do your passion, start where you are, and use what you have… the possibilities then become endless. In her case… find one piece, design it, see if this is truly something you like and will make time for in real life (sometimes the vision is romanticized and you may not enjoy the actual process), record yourself, post it, sell on-line, then business cards, and onward!
I am happy to say, the woman left our conversation with a pep in her step and I wish her the best of luck. As for you… The is no shame on the ground floor, start where you are, with what you have, and EVOLVE!!!
