Your current results are only a fraction of what you are capable of achieving – Darren Hardy. I absolutely love this quote as it provides motivation, encouragement, and inspiration to people in all stages of life. Some of us are nowhere close to where we’d like to be professionally, relationally, or financially. Some of us have achieved so much that life feels like a dream. However, both people have only achieved a fraction of their true capability. The third type of individual is comfortable where they are and content with life as it is. There is nothing wrong with that, and at times, proves to be an extremely comfortable place to be in life. But when you’re ready…you are capable of the incredible!
Throughout my life, I can recall these various stages. As a young athlete, I continuously drove to be better, I remember exercising outside during the hottest part of the day and bookending my summer days with morning running and evening weight training. I thought I had given all I could and struggled to understand why I was not progressing at my desired pace. I now realized, that my results were only a fraction of what I was capable of. I exercised my body, but neglected my mind; the learning of techniques, various positions, and how to work as a team. There was more I could have done to improve my lower body; in turn improving my power, burst, balance, and ability as a player.
After my playing career, I focused on becoming a mental health therapist. I received my graduate degree with a specialty in martial and family counseling and practiced in a variety of settings. I enjoyed the profession, my job placement at the time, and became very comfortable with co-workers and the organization. During this time, I read therapeutic material for fun and enjoyed improving my craft. I did not seek administrative advancement as I believed I would retire in that position and uphold my status and reputation within the organization. As we all know, the only thing that is constant is change. As the company, coworkers, and policies all changed… my status and reputation meant less and less and I became an over-qualified therapist with no chance of advancement. My comfortability slowly dug my own grave. How has your conformability impacted your life, positively and negatively?
Lastly, I decided to begin my own business; You Evolving Now, LLC. I have remained diligent, creative, and focused to create a movement that will positively impact the lives of others and allow men and women to EVOLVE in all roles we play as people. But I know… my current results are only a fraction of what I am capable of achieving. This fact drives me to continuously create, improve, and EVOLVE in my business and all aspects of my life! I am excited to see where we will be, the people and families that will be impacted in six months, a year, five years! Who or what pushed you to succeed and best your life? What do you need to do more of or less of as an individual, parent, professional, friend, etc.? Do you know your partner’s answer? Your kid’s?
